Wow! What a Movember End to Remember!

Well, everybody came through at the end, especially our wonderful sponsor friends and family members and, maybe, even a stranger or two. The Mo Stashed Hairiers are very proud to have raised $5,572 for a great cause. OUR BEST SHOWING EVER!!!

Great Movember effort this year dedicated to father-in-law Miles & team capt. Terry. $100,000,000+ worldwide! Still time to educate & donate at movember.com. Big thanks to everyone who has helped out.

Matt
Terry: Thanks for the mention and for the sentiment, Wayne.

I was told I looked too happy to have this type of stache so I tried to look more menancing.
Terry: I'm not sure that I would like the face below to be looking at my tonsils. I'll go with the one on the right, thank you.

Matt Penfold
Day 30 - The Final Night!
Terry: That's a fine specimen, Matt. Don't you find it difficult fending off all the ladies who want to feel it?

Greg Forbes
Done for another year. Nice job everyone.
Terry: Indeed. A great job

Mike Peyvandi:
Last day, and still going strong.
Terry: Another fine specimen. Are you really going to shave it off?

That it, folks. The Mo Stashed Hairiers are signing off for another year. See you all next Movember.

Last Day of Movember Nearly Upon Us

Andrew

Andrew Forbes
A sad day comes tomorrow, my upper lip will be chilly. Farewell my fine furry friend, may you be greeted with open arms at the pearly gates of Moustache Heaven.
Emily
December 1st cannot come soon enough!

Thank you so much to everyone.
Firstly to the brave mo growers of the Mo Stashed Hairiers. Your great attitude is matched only by your mo's.
Then, and most especially, thank you to all of our donor/sponsors. And there are lots of you. Have a look at the Sponsors on a roll Honour Roll on the right side of this posting. Your donations will help enormously in the cause of prostate cancer research and men's health, physical and mental. That makes us all winners.

If anyone still wants to donate you can still do so for a few days into December.

Today I am feeling doubly proud:
1) The Mo Stashed Hairiers are only $150 away from $4,000 thanks to the generosity of our donors, and...
2) My mo is now something of beauty, a delicate balance of light and dark, salt and pepper.

Seriously, I am proud to be a member of the Mo Stashed hairiers.

So after three weeks of mo'ing, I finally have one with enough contrast with the rest of my face to show up on camera. Appreciate it with the awe and reverence it deserves.

This #Movember, I've been told I look like a punch line, porn star/serial killer and even f'ing lunatic. But what! Not my muse Ron Burgundy?

Some Mo Father and Son

Mo Bro Mark and son, Jonty

I also want a 'stache like that one day

Matt says, "Day 21 - It's a baby ... baby moustache that is!"
Well, Matt. I'm afraid I don't agree. I think it needs a bit of grooming before it gets out of control.  All that stubble on the chin is distracting. But the mo itself is a beauty, I think. It needs a bit more light to pass a proper judgement. Thanks for keeping the photos coming - and well done on the sponsors.

Those Staches are Looking Good

Chris. A real gentleman's moustache. He must be a doctor.

Matt. Exquisitely cultivated roughness gives that manly aura.

Wayne. Note the finely styled parallelism marking a gentleman of distinction

A nick in time of haste is a warning to us all.

Onwards and Upwards in the Top 22%

Well, the Mo Stashed Hairiers are not doing badly. We are up in the top 22% of all Canadian teams - 4151 out of 19434. Wouldn't it be great if our supporters and sponsors could pull us ahead to break below the 4000 ceiling?!

Right now our pack leader in the Mo Stashed Hairiers is Dapper Upper Lipper, Matt Penfold. And little wonder! Just look at that wonderful specimen taking shape on his upper lip with that subtle trace of a biker mo' shadowing down the sides providing firmness yet elegance of form without a trace of faux. Superb articulation. An inspiration to all. It gives me goosebumps.

Matt Penfold - Day 11. This is becoming awesome

Movember: Why?

Movember 2007. My 1st shave since age 21
Ingrid's reaction

I gave it the full Monty

This is the sixth year that I am growing a Movember moustache. It could never again be as dramatic as the first year when I shaved off the moustache and beard that had been growing on my face since I was twenty-one years of age - before any of my children were born, before my wife and I had met. It was almost traumatic for them to see the face under the beard for the first time. It was also a shock for me to walk out fresh-faced on that first November morning and feel the cold on my skin. It took three or four seconds to work out what the new sensation on my face actually was, and why.
Somehow it was all worth it...

Since then I have got into a routine that reflects the seasons: clean-shaven for the summer, grow a mo' in Movember, let the rest of the beard grow for the winter, shave clean again in May.

Between this year and last I have had another, even more dramatic, loss than merely my beard: I lost a good, faithful old friend when I had my prostate removed. You could say, like Pooh Bear said of Eeyore and his tail, I had been rather attached to it. But I am grateful for modern medicine that enabled me to enjoy the benefits of keeping my prostate for five years after first being diagnosed with a small, slow-growing cancer of the prostate. My first PSA test and follow-up visit to the urologist after the prostatectomy showed a PSA test result of zero - no trace of cancer. But the risk is still there and I will need these tests for the rest of my life.

So here we are, in our sixth Movember, promoting awareness of men's health issues, persuading men to get their physicals and raising funds for prostate cancer research and for funding programs for men's health, including mental health. See all the beneficiaries in the panel on the right.

I am fortunate to have a bunch of friends and colleagues, as well as two of my sons, join me to form, for another Movember...
Wait for it...
Drum roll...
Ta-dah!

Please encourage your friends and family to read this blog and, by the way, you could do worse than click on the "Donate to my team" button. If you personally know one of the Mo Stashed Hairiers you could click on his name to sponsor him instead of distributing your donation across the team. If you do choose to sponsor the whole team, please check the option that says, Split evenly across team members. As always with charitable donations, Canadian donors will get a tax receipt for donations over $10.

Two More Mo Bros Take Us to Nine

At the last minute we had two old Mo Bro's from previous years jump on the bus with us just as it was leaving. Enjoy the ride with us, Mike and Chris; that's Doctor Chris for those who know him - and for those who don't.
